Badly organized, poorly edited, limits usability May 4, 2010 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The AODA Exam Secrets Study Guide evidences a hastily prepared exam prep with information that was probably accurate in the early 1990s, but is in real need of update, as well as basic proofreader editing. Headings and subheadings are irregularly applied, misspellings abound, random words are capitalized in the text, and the first 16 pages are wasted on the sort of basic test-taking skills one might readily find for free on the internet. It is difficult to determine what aspects of the presented information ought to be emphasized in preparing for the exam, and the format, as well as the elementary writing style, are to blame. Later in the text, cultural and legal considerations are presented in a similar overly-simplistic manner. If a clinician is already well versed in chemical dependency treatment considerations, this product will be a frustrating and shallow review in preparing for the exam. If a clinician is using this primer as a guide for developing their CD knowledge-base in addition to attempting the exam, I wouldn't anticipate first-time success.
